Mikey's Moving and Storage Blog

Hello! My name is Mikey and this is my moving and storage blog. I was inspired to start this blog following a move I made from Perth to Melbourne. I had lived in Perth for the past 7 years so I had acquired a lot of stuff. I was dreading the move because I didn't know how I would transport all of my stuff to my new home. Thankfully, a chum of mine recommended a fantastic moving and storage company. The moving contractors helped me to organise and move my things. I really couldn't have done it without them so I decided to start a new blog detailing my experience.

Reasons why you need a storage unit

Miguel Mitchell

There are tons of reasons why people rent storage units; some want the extra space, while others want a place where they can store their sentimental stuff. Other reasons include:

1.    Change in relationship status

When two people get together and eventually decide to move in together, they'll have belongings that might not fit into the house they choose. The preferred option is always to sell or donate some of the stuff. However, if you have a sentimental attachment to your belongings, you can rent a storage unit. This will allow you to keep your belongings instead of selling them.

If you decide to get a child, you'll need to clear some space for the baby. You'll need to make the space safe for the baby. The spare bed will be replaced with a cot. You can place the extra bed in the storage unit. If you ever need it, you'll just get it.

2.    Moving

There is nothing as stressful as moving to a new home. You have so much to sort out before you decide what you want to carry and what to leave. A storage unit would be useful, especially if you're downsizing. If you're moving to a smaller house, you'll have to offload some of your belongings. Instead of making hasty decisions, why don't you put your extra belongings into a storage unit? You can sort out the details later.

3.    Renovating

Renovation typically means tearing down walls, fixing the leaking roof, and adding an extra room or partitions. It could also be as simple as repainting the walls. Having your furniture during renovation impedes the progress as the contractors have to be careful not to damage your belongings. However, it's easier to work without the furniture; thus, you can store it in a storage unit. Once the renovation is complete, you can get your belongings. This gives you a chance to rearrange your living space.

4.    Storage for equipment and tools

You can use the storage unit to store your work tools instead of carrying them in your van even when you don't need them. This ensures that your tools are safe and damp-free. You can also store your seasonal equipment, such as skiing gear or kayaks. If the space is big enough, you can even store your boat or car. This will leave you with sufficient space in your garage to store tools and equipment that you use regularly.
