Mikey's Moving and Storage Blog

Hello! My name is Mikey and this is my moving and storage blog. I was inspired to start this blog following a move I made from Perth to Melbourne. I had lived in Perth for the past 7 years so I had acquired a lot of stuff. I was dreading the move because I didn't know how I would transport all of my stuff to my new home. Thankfully, a chum of mine recommended a fantastic moving and storage company. The moving contractors helped me to organise and move my things. I really couldn't have done it without them so I decided to start a new blog detailing my experience.

Reasons You Should Hire Piano Removalists Instead of Traditional Removalists

Miguel Mitchell

When you begin preparing for your move, one of the first things you will likely do is call to find suitable removalists. If you have a piano, you may think that a traditional removalist will be fine. The truth is, there are some benefits and reasons to consider using a professional piano removalist for that item instead. Here are a few of the reasons to consider and what you should know about each reason.

Experienced Packing

You may not think of the packing of your piano as an important step. In fact, most owners think of it as any other packing endeavour. The piano is packed to ensure there is no damage to the outer elements and casing during transport. Some packaging may be placed on the inside to help protect the inner workings. The truth is, a professional piano removalist will take off the top cover of the piano, as well as the foot pedals. This will prevent cracking during moving. They will then shrink wrap the piano and the pieces to ensure each piece are safe with shrink wrap and additional blankets.

Knowledge of Pianos

There are several different styles of pianos. Each style will need special knowledge. This knowledge helps the removalist know what pieces to remove from the piano before moving. It will also let them know which supports and parts need special attention and stabilisation during the move. For example, an upright piano will need much different packing steps than an organ-style piano. Different parts will need special wrapping and moving as well as removal from the main part of the piano itself. You need this knowledge to ensure there is no damage during the move or storage if you choose to have it stored.

Onsite Estimates

Though many removalists offer onsite estimates, most offer these estimates based on the amount of square footage or rooms that will need to be packed and moved. When you have a piano removalist handle the job, they will be focusing on the piano. They will focus on the make, model, age and any special considerations. For example, the keys to the piano can be made of many materials. If they are plastic, they will need a different packing procedure than vintage ivory keys.

When you are ready to hire a removalist for your piano moving needs, contact your local professional removalist contractor. They can inform you if they have someone on staff that deals with professional piano removalist needs. They can also let you know if the piano can be included with your current moving needs or if you will need to have it taken care of in a separate shipment.
